COMMUNICATIONThe art of expressing ones thoughts either verbally or non-verbally is called Communication. It is an activity that conveys information to the receiver from the sender. For information to be clear and precise it is necessary to the sender to make sure that there are no hindrances while communicating.

IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATIONCommunication takes its importance in a few major forms such as business, workplace and leadership. All these stands void without proper communication.

->In BusinessFor a business to run efficiently, the company should have a structured way of communication with customers, suppliers, stockholders, stakeholders, media and competitors. Failing in the flow or the way it communicates with any one mentioned above might spoil the hard earned name the concern has in public. Written and oral communication etiquettes have to be followed while communicating. When the success stories of businessman are read the only thing we can get from it is the structured communication methodology they follow.

->In WorkplaceCommunication plays a most important role in an organisation both horizontally (employee-employee) and vertically (employer-employee). The role of communicating both with the employee and employer is done by only one department called The Human Resource (HR). When there is no proper communication among employees regarding targets or employers on the existing market conditions, the organisation will not be able to withstand for a long run. Employers must constantly communicate with the employers either online(through intranet, forum or Voice-plus conferencing) or offline( through board meets, weekly discussions etc).A clear understanding of what is being said and what is to be delivered along with the expectations of the sender and receiver are extremely important for the smooth running of an organization.

->In Leadership It is the role of a leader to convey a instruction/message to his team mates clearly so that they follow it and act accordingly. When there is miscommunication in/among a team then it leads to downfall of not only the team but also the leader. It is upto a leader to motivate his team and lead them in a right path.

“Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it.” -Dwight D. Eisenhower

WAYS TO IMPROVE COMMUNICATION Plan and Practice before conveying any information- Doing so will give a clear message. Pass a written note to the receiver along with the message being sent-This keeps the message in the same flow it was said. Make sure the receiver paraphrases the message.
